Who?
BelSECT is the professional organisation for all Belgian perfusionists. It is a non-profit organisation which has been registered in the "Belgisch Staatsblad". Our mission as Belgian Perfusion Society is:
to develop the profession of perfusion in Belgium to represent the members of our society towards the authorities and other private and public organisations, national and international to create a platform to meet and discuss to organize educative evenings to support continuous education to organize a biennial conference to get in touch with an international group of speakers and interested people.
What?
The great success of the previous edition, has persuaded us again to organise a two-day event during which we aim for the highest scientific level with an international faculty, to attract a broad audience of perfusionists, nurses, cardiac surgeons, anaesthetists, intensivists, … An international symposium of this level would be impossible without sponsorship support. Therefore, we consider the service we deliver to our sponsors of utmost importance.
Of course, COVID-19 has had a major impact on the conference-world, making live streamed events standard practice. However, BelSECT and NeSECC believe that the lack socio-professional interaction between clinicians and the pharmaceutic industry is a major disadvantage of the webinar formats. However, as no one knows what the future will bring, we are afraid that a large conference with several hundreds of people at the same location will not be allowed. Therefore, for the first time in the perfusion world, we are organizing a MULTI-HUB conference together with the Dutch Perfusion Society, NeSECC. The purpose of this format is to gather 2 smaller groups of perfusionists (one in Brussels, one in The Netherlands), which would be more COVID-Safe, without losing the opportunity to follow the BelSECT Conference. The conference will be streamed live in both directions: presentations from Brussels will be streamed to The Netherlands, but also Dutch presentors will be streamed to Brussels on their turn and external speakers from overseas will be able to present from home. Live interaction will be possible in both directions: Dutch perfusionists will be able to ask questions to Brussels and vice versa. This will be a live hybrid conference. Also, to stimulate the social aspect of our conference, we will provide shorter scientific sessions with longer social breaks.
For your safety, a COVID Safe Pass will be mandatory on entrance of the event.
